Derby wedding photographer
Derby is a cathedral city with a river, big parks and the Derwent Valley mills on its doorstep, and the Peak District is only half an hour away. It gives you a lot of choice for where your photos happen.
A city with plenty of backdrops
Around the cathedral you have old brick, narrow lanes and Georgian doorways that photograph well in any weather. Derby Arboretum, opened in 1840 and often described as the first public park in the country, gives you trees, paths and a bandstand without leaving the city. Both are close enough that a couple of short portrait stops will not eat into your day.
The Derwent at Darley Abbey
A short drive from the centre, Darley Abbey and its park sit on the River Derwent beside old mill buildings that are part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. The weir, the stone and the riverside paths make a calm, uncrowded setting, and it is a good option if your venue is in the city but you want something more open for your portraits.
Plan the gaps in a city wedding
The tricky parts of a Derby wedding are rarely the photos. They are the gaps: the drive from ceremony to reception, parking for guests, and the stretch in the afternoon when everyone is waiting for the room to open. I build those into the timeline with you, so the quiet hour becomes your portrait time instead of a stressful one.
Travelling here
Derby is close to where I work in Derbyshire. Travel depends on your venue, and I will agree it with you before you book.
I photograph your day as it unfolds rather than directing it, so your pictures show how it really felt. I would love to hear about your plans, so please say hello with your date, or you can see recent weddings, check prices from £850, or read more about my work across Derbyshire.
I also work in Chesterfield, Buxton, Matlock, The Peak District, Sheffield, Bakewell, Ashbourne, Belper, Nottingham.
