In and around the town

The medieval bridge over the Wye, the riverside walk and the stone lanes behind the church give you charming portraits within a few minutes’ walk of each other. If your ceremony is in town, you rarely need a car between photos.

Country houses nearby

Couples looking at Bakewell often end up considering the big houses in the area, such as Haddon Hall and Thornbridge Hall. They have formal gardens, long drives and plenty of space for guests, which suits a day with a lot of people and a slower pace.

Monsal Head and the White Peak

Monsal Head overlooks the viaduct and the river below, and the Monsal Trail gives you flat, easy walking along the old railway. The limestone dales here are greener and softer than the gritstone moors further north, and they look best in the long light of an evening.

Busy weekends

Bakewell and the White Peak are popular with visitors, particularly in summer. I choose portrait spots with you in advance and visit at quieter times of day, so your photos feel private even when the town is busy.

Bakewell is in the heart of the Peak District, which is part of where I work. Travel depends on your venue, and I will agree it with you before you book.
