Wedding venues in Derbyshire and the East Midlands

The venues I have photographed weddings at, and a few of the county’s best-known halls, barns and Peak District places worth a look if you are still choosing.

Venues I have photographed

Each of these has its own page with photos from a real wedding there.

Grand halls and country houses

If you want a classic setting, Kedleston Hall is one of Derbyshire’s best-known stately homes, with grand architecture and big grounds. Thornbridge Hall is known for its gardens and architecture, and Shottle Hall suits couples who want a classic country house wedding with gardens and historic interiors.

Barns and relaxed countryside venues

Hazel Gap Barn and The Ashes Barns are two of the county’s best-known barn venues, with exposed brickwork, countryside around them and a relaxed feel. Grangefields offers a more contemporary countryside setting with modern design and plenty of space for guests.

Peak District and unusual venues

Hargate Hall and The Maynard sit in or on the edge of the Peak District, which suits couples who want scenery and a private, intimate day. The West Mill is a good pick if you would rather have industrial architecture, exposed brick and large windows than a traditional hall.

Choosing a venue for relaxed photos

Natural light, space for guests to wander and a few quiet corners matter more than how grand a venue is. I go through this in more detail in my guide to the best wedding venues in Derbyshire, and my planning checklist shows when to book. You can also read about intimate wedding photography if you are planning a small day.

I have only listed a venue as photographed if I have been there for a wedding. If yours is not on the list, I am happy to work anywhere in the area: send me your date and venue, or see my prices from £850.

Questions about venues and booking

How much does a wedding photographer in Derbyshire cost?

My packages start at £850 for four hours of coverage and go up to £1,600 for a full day of ten to twelve hours. The most popular choice for a full wedding is the eight-hour Storytelling package at £1,400. Travel depends on where your wedding is, so I talk it through with you and agree it before you book. Every package comes with a private online gallery of fully edited photos.

Do you photograph weddings outside Derbyshire?

Yes. I live in Derbyshire and photograph weddings across the county and the Peak District, and I also work in Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and further afield. Travel costs depend on where your wedding is, so tell me your venue and I will talk it through with you and give you a straight answer before you book.

How do I check if you are free on our date?

Send me your date, your venue and a little about the day using the contact form. I usually reply within a day or two, and if the date is free we can arrange a call or a cuppa to chat it through. There is never any obligation.

Is your date free?

Pop your date in and I’ll let you know if I’m free. No pressure to book, I’d just love to hear about your day.
